It possibly could have earned a slightly higher rating if it wasn't part of the third installment in the Blade series. The previous films set a high bar, and this one doesn't quite reach that level. This time around, David S Goyer handled both writing and directing duties; perhaps he would have been better off sticking to just scriptwriting. While the action sequences aren’t terrible, they essentially constitute everything the film offers—a sequence of actions strung together with little substance. The biggest problem is Dracula. I was initially excited when it was announced that he'd be the main villain, but my enthusiasm quickly faded. Aside from a visually striking appearance when angered, the movie's depiction of Dracula is ridiculous and disrespectful to the character’s history. Ultimately, it's two hours of passable action, but a letdown considering what a Blade film should be.
