This film functions very well as a motion picture. The visuals, performances, color palette, and other technical aspects are all executed to a remarkably high degree. Nevertheless, I find this movie excessively gloomy and disheartening for my preferences. I’m not really shocked that the tone is so bleak; the initial installment was also quite dark, and this one portrays a genuinely post-apocalyptic world. I did enjoy the first film despite its somber atmosphere, but this one amplifies the darkness and sadness to an entirely new extent. As mentioned earlier, the movie’s technical aspects are impressive. The landscapes are breathtaking, whether it's a dilapidated shack in a desolate area or equally run-down urban environments. The sequences depicting the deserted city where Decker is (re)introduced evoke a sense of sorrow mixed with beauty. The performances from the primary cast members are generally excellent, and the special effects are skillfully integrated and appropriate for the overall feel of the film. Despite all this, I can’t award it more than 3 out of 5 stars. It isn't due to any shortcomings in the movie's quality but rather a matter of my own personal taste, which naturally influences my ratings.
