It turned out to be quite disappointing, actually. While it functioned as a film on its own, the experience fell flat as a continuation of Blade Runner. There were some amusing nods and callbacks, but ultimately it felt like cheap material trying to pass itself off as something sophisticated—and honestly, given that Villeneuve directed it, I probably shouldn't have anticipated anything different; his talent seems limited to convincing less discerning viewers of their own intelligence. The whole thing just felt contrived and artificial. The storyline was unoriginal and relied on tired tropes, making events entirely foreseeable. It really did squander a promising chance ;^<
