It’s hard to go wrong with an unlikely sequel like "Black Phone 2." Bringing back a villain who seemed finished and creating a story that echoes the original movie while incorporating ideas similar to “Nightmare on Elm Street” actually comes together pretty effectively. I think mixing those components, along with some nods to the eighties, is successful. It might not be top-tier horror, but it’s imaginative, unsettling, and most importantly, enjoyable. Basically, it's a familiar story about vengeance from someone who isn't alive anymore, but it's told in a skillful way. It's worth checking out.
