It’s hard to deny that this ranks among Marvel’s strongest offerings, largely due to its engaging narrative and the depth given to its characters. The film centers on Black Panther and those close to him—his friends and family—as they work to protect their nation of Wakanda from Klau (played by Andy Serkis) and Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan). Chadwick Boseman delivers a strong performance as T'Challa/Black Panther, and the rest of the ensemble cast is equally impressive, with particular praise going to the actresses. The women in T’Challa’s life are portrayed as intelligent and powerful figures. It appears Marvel has managed to overcome its usual problem with villains, particularly with Klau and especially Killmonger. Killmonger's characterization feels very thorough, even eliciting a degree of understanding despite his role as an antagonist; he brought to mind Tom Hiddleston’s Loki in some ways. The action sequences and visual effects are truly remarkable. I would suggest seeing it if you appreciate movies based on comic books.
