This reimagining of Bob Clark's classic horror film (from 1974) has a recurring visual element involving eyes, and after watching it, you might feel inclined to rip your own out and use them for entertainment! It follows a group of attractive college girls who are targeted and harmed by an unstable killer returning home for the holidays... This version misses everything that made Bob Clark's original so impactful. The subtlety has disappeared; instead, there’s an extensive backstory detailing the killer’s motivations. The characters—some portrayed by talented actresses—are underdeveloped, which prevents viewers from feeling invested in their fates. There are some decent gore effects, but because the film’s tone is inconsistent, it never manages to be frightening or even amusing in a clever way. It's not a good movie overall. 3/10
