My expectations were high for this film, considering the actors involved and what it seemed to be about. However, what appeared to be a spy story mixed with dramatic elements turned out to simply be that—but in a way that felt overly confident, with dialogue that was excessively clever, and an insistent need to demonstrate its perceived superiority throughout. Fassbender portrayed a detached character who worked within the system and seemed to control everything through his knowledge. Nevertheless, the complicated script, tangled storyline, and absence of anything significant at risk ultimately made the movie fall short. I must say I was let down by how this unfolded. It felt like ninety minutes wasted on meaningless chatter centered around an item and a situation that never received proper importance.
