The film *Black Adam* doesn't quite live up to expectations, proving rather underwhelming because of its conventional and foreseeable plot, especially given hopes for something more original. Lorne Balfe’s sweeping musical score and a strong ensemble—featuring Dwayne Johnson, Aldis Hodge, and particularly Pierce Brosnan in an outstanding performance—attempt to improve the serviceable action sequences and visuals; however, the middling enjoyment doesn't compensate for the tired storytelling approach. Excessive explanatory dialogue, a lack of imaginative ideas, and jokes that don’t always land prevent the DC Extended Universe from progressing in a significant way. Rating: C+
