It's been more than two decades since audiences last saw Rocky fighting. Now, he owns an Italian restaurant in Philadelphia, named for his wife, while attempting to reconnect with his son, a lawyer working in the corporate world, and revisiting Marie, the young woman he took home at the end of the first film. When an unexpected chance comes up for him to return to public attention, this aging boxer has to figure out if he still possesses that inner drive to fight, even with his years. "Rocky Balboa," released in 2006, marks the sixth entry in the Rocky franchise and arrives sixteen years after the previous one. It serves as a suitable conclusion to the main storyline, though Sylvester Stallone has mentioned the possibility of a seventh film acting as an addendum, which I’d like to see happen. As anticipated, this movie adheres closely to the established Rocky pattern, providing a look at where the central characters are nearly thirty years after the initial movie and introducing some new personalities, including an elderly dog called Punchy. It's certainly foreseeable, but it remains enjoyable as it follows Rocky’s narrative during his mid-50s. The successful spin-off series, Creed, revived Rocky in 2015 and again in 2018, with a third movie scheduled for release this year. The film has a running time of 1 hour and 42 minutes and was filmed on location in Philadelphia, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas. GRADE: B
