My initial thought was about preserving the planet, but I quickly realized this was a crime thriller, not science fiction or fantasy. I pictured tough guys in leather jackets with guns and cigars—the kind of thing you’d expect from Tarantino. However, it wasn't as aggressive or overly violent as that. The script felt disjointed at times, especially when trying to create a sense of unease, which left me feeling like something was missing, sometimes disappointingly so. I didn’t realize it was a dark comedy until later, and that element was somewhat enjoyable. The film dealt with serious subject matter, but the presentation lacked depth. It kept things light, particularly hiding the darker truths for a final twist. As viewers, we're left to guess—did he do it or not?—essentially forced to choose sides. The movie’s length and pace were decent. There wasn’t enough room for proper character introductions, including even the initial event that drives the entire plot forward. From the start, the writer seemed determined to hold everything back until the final reveal. That doesn't seem like a clever move; it feels more like an unwillingness to offer any clues. > "Maniacs are afraid of maniacs." In the meantime, the torture methods and suspense keep you engaged. Because of Tarantino’s involvement, it’s an easy recommendation—especially to his fans. I suggest you consider watching it yourself and deciding; don't take my word for it. To me, it felt like a missed opportunity to truly make an impact, especially given the powerful title and theme. Still, I wouldn’t call it a bad or terrible movie, but it likely ranks among the top 50—or maybe even top 25—of the year. The film turned out as expected; my expectations and the story's trajectory were aligned. At least I was entertained, but it didn’t exceed my hopes enough to surprise me with anything particularly interesting. It felt like trying to pour new wine into an old bottle, keeping the original label and description. The style was there, but attempting to be too clever ultimately let it down by a small margin.
