The film initially seems quite promising. It presents a different angle on events that occurred during the invasion depicted in the first Skyline film; specifically, what was happening at ground level within the city itself, rather than from an apartment building vantage point. There's a familiar quality to it that recalls the original movie’s strengths. However, issues arise once the characters enter the alien spacecraft. The narrative becomes less serious and loses its sense of wonder. We are shown what the aliens look like and how they operate the ship, which requires accepting that creatures with such awkward appendages could create advanced technology—and so on. This is a common failing in science fiction films: prioritizing monstrous visuals over plausibility. It’s similar to watching a suspenseful thriller about a serial killer; once you know who the killer is, the tension disappears. Ultimately, it's an acceptable film, but viewers will need to completely set aside their critical thinking skills to enjoy the latter portion of the story.
