A truly awful description seems most appropriate for 'Best. Christmas. Ever!'. This 2023 movie feels forced; nothing about it comes across as genuine, and it noticeably lacks any real holiday spirit. With the possible exception of the children—Madison Skye Validum is quite good in the role of Beatrix—the characters are generally unpleasant or simply don’t engage the viewer. The plot itself is so unremarkable that I quickly lost interest; at just about 80 minutes, it should have been an easy watch, but it wasn't. Validum is the only performer who deserves recognition, as the others fail to make a memorable impression—though they aren’t entirely helped by the material they were given. Heather Graham’s portrayal of Charlotte is especially weak and unlikeable. Brandy Norwood, playing Jackie, at least makes an effort; she's probably the best of the less-than-stellar cast. It likely only scrapes by with a 5/10 rating. The brief length probably helps it avoid a lower score because I usually need to be truly irritated before I’ll give something that low—and shorter movies don’t typically achieve that. It's still a disappointing film, though.
