The initial concept was promising, and the visuals were well-crafted, but the main actor's portrayal left something to be desired, as did the number of plot threads that seemed to vanish. It’s difficult to articulate precisely, but it felt like for every strength this film possessed, there was a corresponding weakness pulling it down. There are aspects of _Before I Wake_ that resonated with me, though ultimately it didn't quite succeed in its entirety. Final rating:★★½
