"Bee Movie," which came out in 2007, tells the story of a bee named Barry B. Benson (Jerry Seinfeld provides the voice), recently graduated and feeling restricted by the predetermined career path within his hive. After venturing outside for a special excursion, he’s rescued by Vanessa (Renée Zellweger), a florist working in New York City. As they get to know each other, he finds out that humans obtain honey through what amounts to bee enslavement, prompting him to file a lawsuit against humankind—a decision with unforeseen consequences. I don't usually care for animated movies, but this one has quite a few scenes that genuinely made me laugh, especially in the beginning. However, you really need to be focused and notice the quick dialogue and visual gags; otherwise, you’ll miss a lot of the humor. There’s a bit where an ATFH officer appears—I wonder what the 'H' stands for? The movie stays interesting even later on, although it's less riotous then. To put it simply, "Bee Movie" ranks among my favorite comedies ever. And I realize Vanessa is animated, but she’s really attractive. The film also includes voice work from Matthew Broderick, Patrick Warburton, John Goodman, Chris Rock, Kathy Bates, Barry Levinson, Larry King, Ray Liotta, Sting, Oprah Winfrey and Rip Torn. "Bee Movie" has a running time of 91 minutes. GRADE: A
