I went into this anticipating disappointment – surprisingly, that didn’t happen. The story centers on "Abby" (Virginia Gardner), who’s tired of cleaning up her father’s messes and goes off to college in California. On her first night, she and her friend "America" (Libe Barer) discover a student version of "Fight Club," where Abby encounters the bare-knuckle fighting champion, "Travis" (Dylan Sprouse). With blood from one of his previous opponents on her shirt, she pretends to dislike him, but things quickly become complicated. When their dorm’s water supply fails and she has to switch rooms, she finds herself sharing a space with—you guessed it—the fighter himself. A rather forced – and honestly absurd – wager leads to her spending a month sharing his bed. Whether or not they end up together isn't really the point; this movie is more about attractive actors enjoying themselves and hoping that enjoyment transfers to the audience. I did notice some chemistry between them, and "Travis" turned out to be quite charming, while the humor felt slightly more developed than what you’d find in something like the ongoing "After..." teen drama series. It's attempting a mature tone, and it manages this reasonably well. However, the final twenty minutes were particularly silly—and significantly diminished the experience. A theatrical release isn't really necessary (though there must have been over fifty people at the screening I went to), but even with its length, it’s still an acceptable way to spend some time.
