It was truly remarkable. I’m not able to fully dissect what everything signifies in this wild and chaotic film, but it provides a tremendously enjoyable experience if you simply relax and let yourself be carried along. My approach to viewing it mirrored how I watched Lost Highway – forgo any attempt at comprehension and instead embrace the feeling of being both frightened and amused. The initial portion resonated deeply with me, especially given my own struggles with anxiety; it masterfully portrays the world from the perspective of someone experiencing a severe case. The exaggeration is palpable, and the level of detail is extraordinary. As the film progresses, it spirals further into disorientation, reminiscent of Mother but without the frustrating elements. Instead, it’s an exhilarating, bizarre, and occasionally poignant journey—and surprisingly funny. There are many genuinely amusing moments, often bordering on the ridiculous. I went in completely blind, unaware of its length – a full three hours! I also didn't realize Ari Aster was involved; I wasn't familiar with his work. After some research, I discovered he directed Midsommar, which I considered dull and uninteresting, and Hereditary, which I greatly admired. I can certainly understand why someone might dislike this movie. I’d even be able to appreciate the frustration of those attempting to make sense of it all. The ideal way to experience it is with popcorn; treat it like a lighthearted entertainment, anticipating absurdities rather than action sequences—though there are explosions as well. That's how you'll get the most enjoyment from this exceptional film. I plan on watching it again. Joaquin Phoenix absolutely warrants an Academy Award for his performance – without question, his finest work to date. You should see this movie; it’s something special. Even if it isn't to your taste, you won't feel like the time was wasted.
