This is truly one of the worst movies I’ve ever had the misfortune of seeing; seriously, don't waste your money on a ticket! Idris Elba isn't usually outstanding, but he’s capable when given something worthwhile to work with—a good script and an interesting premise. This movie gave him neither. It’s a clumsy, disappointing, and unsuccessful attempt at making a serious film. I can scarcely believe that anyone could take such a familiar idea and execute it so poorly. The story unfolds in one badly planned scene after another; not only does the suspension of disbelief disappear, but it's completely shattered by what amounts to a ridiculous depiction of sentimental notions and substandard special effects. The writing is equally dull, basic, and mostly consists of predictable dialogue, until it abruptly veers into an astonishingly foolish realm. This occurs with frustrating regularity. There’s no point in going to see this at the movie theater. Hold out for a few weeks and let it end up on Pluto TV, Amazon Prime Video, or Freevee instead. It won't be long before that happens.
