The movie Beast has some positive aspects, including a cast of capable performers and cinematography that draws you in. However, the computer-generated imagery used for the lion is noticeable and hinders the development of suspense. The film worked best when characters were desperately searching for the lion before it struck, but those attacks felt too simple to escape, which lessened the impact. Unnecessary storylines about family relationships, underwhelming conversations, and unrealistic conflicts between humans and a lion kept Beast from being as entertaining as films such as Crawl or Deep Blue Sea.
