This is among Disneynature’s newest documentary efforts. It wouldn't be inaccurate to describe it as a grizzly bear counterpart to 'To the Arctic'. Both films center on mother bears and their cubs’ initial year of trying to live in nature, differing mainly in appearance and environment. Filmed along Alaska’s coastline, the production team spent an entire year observing a bear family to document the start of newborn cubs' lives with their mother. Consistent with Disney’s well-known fairy tales and films geared toward children, Disneynature productions aren’t drastically different. They don't resemble what you see on Animal Planet or National Geographic—the raw, difficult reality of animals surviving in the wild. Instead, they present a charming and pleasant little story. John C. Reilly provided narration for this film, and some of his lines were quite funny, perhaps even better suited for older audiences than younger viewers. As with other Disneynature films, it’s recommended viewing for children. I hope adults find it enjoyable as well. 8/10
