I remember when the original TV show first came out; I was just a child then. People thought it was too risqué for me to watch. So much has changed since those days, and I’ve always been curious about it. Now there's a movie, which could possibly become a series of films if things go well. There were high hopes surrounding this film, but it didn't quite live up to them—and they’ve already announced another one! The lifeguards are now looking for new recruits. Three people join as trainees after the selection process. Shortly afterward, several mysterious deaths occur in the bay. The police aren’t overly concerned about solving these cases, but the Baywatch team decides to start their own investigation, which takes them into a risky situation. What happens next is shown through some action and thriller elements. Zac Efron's physique isn't enough to save this film. He seems like an accidental actor who won’t last unless he finds a way to make it work, similar to what Ben Affleck did. Dwayne, however, was fantastic. The rest of the cast was good too. I didn’t think Priyanka suited the part; casting an Indian actress as a villain in an American film doesn't really fit. It feels like India exports only engineers, doctors, and scientists while keeping all the criminals at home—a Chinese or Russian villain would have been more believable. There wasn't any suspense because everything was obvious from the start. Some of the comedic moments were enjoyable, but others felt ridiculous. I particularly disliked the plot; the lifeguards are acting like police officers. It’s fine to stretch things a little within their world, but this film went too far. As a result, it failed to focus on events happening at the beach, which is what the title suggested. I'm hoping the next installment will be better. _3/10_
