I’ve always been on the lookout for another animated superhero movie that can measure up to _Batman: The Dark Knight Returns_, which remains my favorite in the genre, and because of that, I tend to approach these releases with optimism. Sadly, many fall short. There are some that land somewhere acceptable, though, and _Gotham by Gaslight_ is among the better ones. The voice performances aren't particularly memorable, and the animation style isn’t great—the striking poster can be misleading. However, the narrative is what matters most, and in its Elseworld story, _Gotham by Gaslight_ manages to succeed enough to earn a positive impression. _Final rating:★★★ - I liked it. I would suggest checking it out._
