This full-length film combines fifteen earlier installments featuring "Batman" (Lewis Wilson) and "Robin" (Douglas Croft), who must battle the villainous schemes of "Prince Daka" (J. Carrol Naish). Prince Daka’s scheme centers around utilizing the mostly deserted “Little Tokyo” district as a headquarters to transform several well-known scientists into robots, which he intends to use to conquer Gotham City. The question is whether this heroic pair can stop him. The production feels very restricted by its stage setting, and the frequent fighting sequences become overly predictable. Croft appears quite young, and I think it might have been more effective presented as a series of episodes. However, stretched out to four hours, the story simply repeats itself too often; Prince Daka and his numerous underlings are repeatedly rescued from imminent failure. There are occasional amusing scenes where the costumed heroes hand over criminals to the police, but the acting is generally quite poor. It likely provided some amusement back in 1943, but viewed now, eighty years later, it’s rather weak.
