This is decent, considering the kind of movie it is. *’Bastille Day’*, which went by *‘The Take’* where I live, works as an enjoyable action film. Idris Elba has taken on roles like this before, and he delivers a strong performance in this type of picture. Both he and Richard Madden have accents that are noticeable—at least to someone familiar with their more natural speaking voices—but they make a dependable team; the dialogue between them, which is fairly limited, isn't particularly memorable, though. Elba shows up at the end credits singing, and it doesn’t quite work out well, I think. I am aware that he's capable of making music, but this particular song isn’t among his better efforts, to put it mildly. The plot is fairly straightforward, even if it unfolds in a way that held my attention and kept me entertained. So, I’m giving it my approval.
