Evan Ari Kelman’s first film, Barron's Cove, is something special, showing off confident filmmaking and performances filled with genuine emotion—particularly from Garrett Hedlund, who gives what feels like a career-best performance. The movie isn’t perfect; there are moments where the storytelling falters, and the final scene doesn't quite manage to create the intended emotional impact. However, it stays with you because of its straightforward examination of difficult subjects like childhood trauma, regret, being able to forgive others, and the possibility of finding a better path. The film asks audiences to consider more than just what people do, proving that discovering new talent in independent movies is always worthwhile. Rating: B+
