The movie Barbie manages to be very funny while also being clever about its own nature, featuring some genuinely amusing musical sequences and skillfully blending broad comedy with deeper commentary on societal issues. Recognition is clearly coming for the film’s vibrant visual elements—the design, clothing, and makeup are all exceptional. The story crafted by Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach doesn't shy away from addressing significant subjects, including things like power structures, inappropriate behavior, and fundamental questions about who we are and how we feel about ourselves, as well as the positions people hold in modern culture. It feels like Margot Robbie was meant to portray Barbie, just as Ryan Gosling embodies Kenergy. The performances across the board are wonderful. You really should experience this film with a large audience. Rating: A-
