Reno on Baked in Brooklyn

6/10 · May 16, 2017

I was pleasantly surprised by how good this movie turned out to be. It has the feel of a TV movie, largely due to the actors involved, although Alexandra Daddario is an exception. I’ll admit my interest stemmed solely from her; otherwise, it would have been something easy to pass over. However, the plot itself was quite enjoyable. It's not exceptional for this type of production, but it does a respectable job, and that’s what you should anticipate getting out of it. The film centers on a man who has a comfortable life with a good-paying career. That all changes when a woman enters his world, fundamentally altering the course of his existence. He begins to explore different ways of dealing with a recent loss, and his chances at romance seem destined for failure before he even gets the opportunity to pursue a relationship with what appears to be an ideal partner. The rest of the story details how these events affect various aspects of his life. I initially assumed the movie would involve baking because I misinterpreted the title, which occasionally works out well when expectations are exceeded. Everyone delivers solid performances; as mentioned, Alexandra Daddario might be enough to draw some viewers like myself in, and it’s worthwhile even aside from that. You may find it rated as average, but if you're being truthful about your viewing experience, I believe it’s considerably better than that. It’s definitely a film worth watching again. _6/10_
