It’s a cheerfully silly science fiction/horror film featuring music by Blue Oyster Cult. Following reports of an unidentified flying object near a secluded radio station in Southern California, an alien being seizes control of the facility, trapping a DJ and a crew member inside. The extraterrestrial seems intent on using the airwaves to locate and capture attractive women, though this involves reducing them in size. "Bad Channels" (1992) provides entertainment through its over-the-top style, imaginative plot, and three excellent rock/metal music videos: “Somewhere in the Night,” penned and performed by Ron Keel; “Touching Myself Again” from DMT; and “Manic Depresso (I’m So Happy)” by Sykotik Sinfoney. This marked Blue Oyster Cult's sole effort as a movie soundtrack provider, although they also contributed two tracks to the film itself, "Out of the Darkness" and "Demon’s Kiss," along with an uncredited piece, "The Horsemen Arrive." The tone is similar to films like “Hard Rock Zombies” or "Shock 'Em Dead.” Viewers who enjoy "Trick or Treat" (1986) will likely find something to appreciate, even though this one isn’t quite as intense. I'd describe it as very campy. It hints at the storyline of “Dollman vs. Demonic Toys,” released the following year and also a continuation of "Demonic Toys." A brief scene after the credits reveals Dollman just outside of town, mentioning plans to reunite with the woman who remains miniaturized. (Dollman doesn’t appear elsewhere in the film). The tall Nurse Ginger, portrayed by Melissa Behr, reappears in “Dollman vs. Demonic Toys.” Other women featured include Martha Quinn (as Lisa Cummings), Charlie Spradling (Cookie) and Daryl Strauss (Bunny). The movie has a runtime of approximately 1 hour, 28 minutes, and was filmed in Los Angeles. GRADE: B-
