It’s genuinely difficult to present narratives about growing up in a fresh and engaging way, and the combination of a serious illness and an ethically dubious romantic relationship—as seen in 'Babyteeth'—makes the film remarkable for how successfully it manages nearly every aspect. The actors and everyone involved clearly gave their best efforts, which leads to a movie that’s just as emotionally painful as other films about teenagers battling cancer, but stands out because of its humor, cynicism, and outstanding acting; this makes sure it will stick with viewers for quite some time.
