A significant plot development later in the film hinges on a character acting foolishly, which diminishes the importance of everything the protagonists accomplish both before and after that point. This particular instance was so distracting that I found myself unable to appreciate the remainder of the narrative, and it brought other serious shortcomings into sharp focus: the antagonist’s reasoning is baffling, a specific item seems solely intended for creating artificial plot developments, and the musical score is excessively overt, practically signaling what emotions viewers should be feeling. While the initial portion provides some of the most exciting action sequences seen in a Disney Marvel production to date, the latter half becomes so nonsensical that it negatively impacts my perception of the entire MCU.
