Atomic Twister is an enjoyable, low-budget disaster movie made around the turn of the millennium, blending humor with a somewhat earnest tone. The story opens with a young boy, Jake, and his mother seeking shelter from a powerful tornado; his mother disappears into the storm, leaving him to take refuge beneath a piece of farm machinery. Years pass, and tornadoes return, causing widespread destruction in Jake’s hometown and endangering the state when two storms hit the Helman Klien Nuclear Facility, damaging diesel pumps and risking a catastrophic meltdown. It's an entertaining film to watch with companions, and while it won’t be receiving any Academy Awards, it still holds value. Broadcast on TBS and BBC, and available on DVD internationally, I would give Atomic Twister a rating of 7 out of 10.
