It’s truly a letdown, especially considering how remarkable the first one was. Michael J. Fox leaving the role of Milo right away sets a negative tone for the movie, and that impression is only reinforced by the noticeably cheaper animation style. The story begins with some mild appeal, even if it resembles an episode of *’What's New, Scooby-Doo?’*, but then it falls apart due to two weak storylines. It tries to be a cohesive narrative, but ultimately feels like those frustrating combinations of multiple plots that Disney frequently uses in sequels. The film spends almost all its time outside of Atlantis, which seems completely unnecessary. I was hoping to revisit the world established in the 2001 movie, but instead they quickly shift back to the 'real world,' a setting that’s significantly less captivating. The voice acting and characters aren't particularly noteworthy either; they introduce a new character, Obby, who is a lavadog, and he just doesn't fit in—he seems only present to move the plot forward at one specific moment. As you probably gathered, I really didn’t enjoy *’Atlantis: Milo’s Return’*. From the animation quality to the rhythm of events, everything felt subpar, or so it seemed to me.
