Many people seem unaware that this movie exists. The only reason I decided to watch it was Brittany Robertson; I’d noticed her in a significant role for the first time in 'The First Time', and have kind of liked her ever since, so I didn't really have any reason to skip it regardless of what others thought. It is based on a book called 'Undiscovered Gyrl'. After watching it, I felt they should’ve used that title instead because it seems more fitting for the story. It follows an 18-year-old girl who starts a blog under a false name to keep her identity hidden from those she knows. She wanted to write honestly about her life and share some dark secrets, but is it really safe to let everyone know what kind of person you are? The main character seemed confused about the difference between sex and relationships, and that confusion carried over to me as well. This was largely due to her troubled past. When the movie gets close to the end, you probably won't recall much from earlier on. The script isn’t particularly insightful, but it did have a bold plan for the ending. It had an unexpected twist that made me gasp, and thankfully it turned out to be fictional, inspired by the reality of internet culture that young people experience every day. > "It's like we all want to be famous, > even though we're not good at anything." Of all her roles so far, this one gave Brittany Robertson the best opportunity to express herself deeply. The plot focuses too much on a sexual journey, but there aren’t any particularly strong or disturbing scenes beyond a couple of nude appearances. This doesn’t make it appropriate for teenagers, except perhaps those who are more mature. I was hesitant at first because of the movie's themes, and then ended up liking the whole film thanks to the ending. One small twist completely changes your perspective on the story. It perfectly mimics the online world as well. The entire film felt like a mathematical problem where one character is central and connected directly to four others. It doesn’t solve the problem for you, but it gives you the formula to do so, ending with many possibilities. It doesn't ensure that viewers will understand it, but either way, everything you predict turns out to be both right and wrong. The storytelling was significant in its practicality about questions that go unanswered in real life. You have to gather all the clues and put them together because they all relate to the main character’s childhood. But there's still debate at the conclusion, and that’s just how it is. Frankly, I didn’t enjoy the movie from the beginning until the final scene. I thought it was better than average, certainly not a bad film. However, after watching it, while trying to remember the movie's purpose, I realized it offered some rational perspectives on social media and its safety. This film is comparable to real-life stories, and all credit should go to the author, who also wrote the screenplay and directed the film. I feel it’s underrated; if you regularly read my blog, you probably know that when I say “don't miss it,” I really mean it. 7.5/10
