It’s fascinating to see a story unfold around CCTV footage showing a man being stabbed repeatedly. The police arrest the person responsible, but when the prosecutors—"Han Ming" (Jiayin Lei) and "Liu Lingling" (Ye Gao)—are assigned to work together on the case, they uncover that the victim was not a likable individual and perhaps warranted what happened to him, despite his family’s objections. Simultaneously, "Han" is dealing with problems at home because his son "Yuchen" (Liu Yaowen) got involved in a school bullying situation and must choose between issuing a humiliating apology or facing detention. “Han” finds himself increasingly stressed by demands from his superiors, his partner, and his assertive wife, "Li Maojuan" (Li Ma). Managing all of this isn’t easy for him, and much of the series alternates between an escalating, quarrelsome marriage that initially seems amusing but eventually becomes tiresome, and a police investigation with a broader political message about Chinese legal proceedings. There are definitely some good parts, and I occasionally felt sympathy for "Han" as his troubles piled up without any clear resolution for someone who simply wants to reach retirement peacefully. However, overall it feels somewhat disorganized. The story doesn't progress smoothly, and it veers too much into soap opera territory, losing momentum. It’s certainly something you can watch, and there are moments that elicit a chuckle, but the storylines feel underdeveloped.
