It occurred to me that a film could really work if it followed scientists as they gradually figure out how to talk with extraterrestrial life. That sounds promising, but I worry audiences might lose interest without something more personal involved. So, we'll give the lead scientist a deceased daughter and intersperse brief reminders of her throughout the movie. Let’s move forward with production.
