It’s time for another dose of Bayhem. A massive asteroid, comparable in size to Texas, is on a collision course with Earth, threatening worldwide destruction and potentially wiping out humanity. Despite significant investment in space exploration, NASA lacks solutions beyond the idea of detonating it internally with explosives. This leads to Harry Stamper and his team of experienced deep core drillers being recruited. Will NASA be able to launch these unconventional men toward the asteroid to complete their mission? The survival of humankind hinges on a group of misfits! I struggle to understand the criticism leveled at Armageddon, possibly because I have an affinity for disaster films—I’m someone who readily supports movies like The Towering Inferno. This film delivers precisely what it promises: over-the-top entertainment filled with humor, danger, and predictable displays of heroism. It's all presented with director Michael Bay’s enthusiastic desire to destroy things in a spectacularly flamboyant way. There are admittedly some sentimental scenes, and the acting isn't always top-notch, but consider this—it's a disaster movie directed by Michael Bay! Leave your critical thinking aside, crank up the volume and brightness, appreciate the special effects, and belt out Aerosmith’s hit song, "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing." Armageddon lives up to its title; don't overthink it. 8/10
