This movie is strange; there’s something unsettling about everything. I wasn't certain what to make of 'Argylle' at first, but ultimately, it’s a pass from me. I honestly can't think of much that I genuinely liked—though Sam Rockwell and Bryan Cranston are okay, they too have their moments where they fall short. There's just this persistent sense of mediocrity throughout the whole thing. Bryce Dallas Howard seems like the wrong choice for the part, even if she’s pleasant enough to watch. Henry Cavill feels stiff (deliberate? I doubt it), and Dua Lipa does too, but she has enough personality to make it almost work. As for the music, it's adequate, but again, it just doesn't quite fit—it seems like the right kind of song was chosen, only not the right one specifically... "Electric Energy" might eventually grow on me. It also doesn’t help that you can’t shake the feeling that this is a substandard version of 'Kingsman', which makes sense given who directed it and their plans for the two films behind the scenes. I’m fine with a shared universe, but this feels too obvious. There are also echoes of 'The Lost City' (itself reminiscent of 'Nim's Island') sprinkled in, too. Another drawback is the special effects, particularly at the beginning... it’s best not to dwell on them. I suppose it all comes down to this being a disappointing movie—and I really hoped I would enjoy it, but I couldn't. Actually, just now I remembered a scene that I did genuinely like: the one featuring Leona Lewis' "Run." That was actually fun.
