The story unfolds in a future setting where people move around by creating their own rainbows—a privilege reserved for those who reach twelve years old and receive their very own cape and diamond. Arco, a ten-year-old boy, finds himself restless, particularly after his parents and sister come back from an exciting journey. One night, unable to contain his eagerness, he secretly takes his sister’s equipment and embarks on his first flight. Predictably, he lacks skill and quickly falls through the clouds, inadvertently traveling through time and landing in a past era where he meets Iris. She is portrayed as someone self-reliant, and he gradually learns to rely on her, despite the annoyance of Clifford. As they attempt to locate the missing jewel necessary for his return trip, a group of odd characters pursuing him with their own version of the “Mean Machine” from "Scooby Doo" complicates matters; now, not only must they get Arco home but also evade these persistent pursuers. Fortunately, they have the devoted nanny robot Mikki—reminiscent of Sonny from "I, Robot"—to assist them.
