It's unusual to finish a movie completely without having something to say, but this film managed it. “Archive” is a beautiful and affecting piece of cinema. The production design really pulls you in; it creates an environment that feels real. Theo James gives what seems like his strongest performance to date. It’s handled skillfully, letting the images tell the story instead of relying on lots of talking, which makes it more powerful. The brief scenes involving the robots were truly something special—I haven't encountered anything quite like them in a theatrical release. The way these machines express such profound emotion despite not having human faces is really impressive. It’s rare to see that done so well; credit goes to the director and the visual effects team. My biggest complaint concerns how long the film runs. There were moments when it felt stretched out, and cutting some material would have made for a better flow. Apparently, many viewers haven't picked up on the more subtle aspects of this movie, judging by the scores I’ve seen. Still, “Archive” is definitely worth seeing if you enjoy science fiction.
