The character of Bruce Willis, playing “Stone,” was once a police officer until a wrongful conviction landed him behind bars for life. A stroke of misfortune finds "Rainsford" (Neal McDonough) and his associate "West" (Alexia Feast) planning a dangerous hunt on their isolated island. They select “Stone” as the perfect mark, offering him freedom if he manages to survive – a very difficult prospect. The resulting movie is an incredibly poor production, depicting him aimlessly walking through woodland wearing a reflective vest, projecting about as much threat as a visit to an ice cream shop. While it borrows ideas from the much better "The Most Dangerous Game" (1942), it’s strikingly short on developed characters. The conversations are childish and frankly, I believe the cast could have been left on the island to kill each other without bothering viewers at all. What prompted Willis' involvement? Surely he doesn't require the income? His relaxed, somewhat mocking persona simply doesn't work here, and McDonough – it’s hard to understand how this actor, so lacking in depth, continues to find employment. “Nadir” would have been a more fitting title for this film; it truly is for everyone involved.
