The film *Ape vs. Monster* disregards any semblance of plausibility; it simply ignores reality. The plot involves an improbable alliance between George W. Bush and Vladimir Putin, who collaborate to send a "deep space probe" into orbit with Abraham the Chimpanzee as its crew member. This event supposedly takes place in 1985—a decade prior to Bush's time as Texas governor, while Putin was working as a KGB officer in Dresden. Considering chimpanzees have a considerable lifespan, they naturally require sustenance, and it’s hard to imagine sufficient bananas being available in outer space. Therefore, Abe likely perished either from old age or starvation, most probably before they reported losing contact with the probe on "August 12th, 2007." Despite this, when the capsule unexpectedly returns to Earth—apparently in the present day—Abe is not only still alive but has transformed into a massive primate of an undefined genetic origin; think of it as a hybrid between Bigfoot and Bubbles. After some standard plot developments, Abe and a similarly altered Gila monster engage in a battle that’s about as exciting as two formless computer-generated figures can be. The victorious Abe is then moved to a "sanctuary" located in Santa Fe—a choice of location that seems absurd, given how unsuitable the desert is for chimpanzees.
