The narrative works well, and the acting is solid; it’s an entertaining experience. *Antlers* establishes its atmosphere effectively and succeeds in creating a genuinely unsettling movie. Keri Russell, Jesse Plemons, and Jeremy T. Thomas all provide noteworthy performances, forming an engaging combination to observe – even if their characters aren't as developed as they might have been. The horror elements are handled skillfully, which is what one would anticipate given Guillermo del Toro’s involvement in the production alongside director Scott Cooper and others. I appreciate films that bring locations to life, where a sense of authenticity and realism pervades the setting, and this film certainly achieves that exceptionally well. Like many movies in this category, there appears to be an implication of potential sequels at the conclusion—something I’d consider watching, admittedly—but it feels like a standalone story might have been more appropriate; time will tell.
