Those anticipating something from filmmakers like Scorsese or Lean should adjust their expectations immediately; this isn’t the sort of movie that will generate much critical excitement. It's a standard action film featuring Gerard Butler as a special agent striving to clear his name after being wrongly accused of trying to assassinate the US president, along with numerous other people. The plot involves navigating a situation where he can’t be sure of anyone’s loyalty and facing opposition from both allies and enemies in pursuit of his objectives. Morgan Freeman is enjoyable as the President—yet again—in this quickly moving action-drama, but it lacks any sense of originality.
