There were some enjoyable action sequences, notably during the forest explosion scenes, though the visual effects weren't great—apparently, they aimed for a limited budget, and it showed. The storyline felt familiar, particularly concerning the antagonists; I correctly guessed one of their identities fairly early on, while the other’s intentions were quite apparent, echoing elements from *Murder at 1600*, which was released two decades prior. Nevertheless, I appreciate Gerard Butler's presence, even if he appears to be gaining weight recently. Morgan Freeman delivered his usual solid performance, and Nick Nolte provided a few entertaining moments. It’s disappointing that Radha Mitchell wasn’t available to reprise her role as Banning's wife; it would have avoided the jarring change seen when Rachel Weisz was swapped out for Maria Bello in *The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor*.
