It's not exceptional, but remains a worthwhile movie. Tim Blake Nelson both directed and took on an important part, and I believe he also penned the script well enough to evoke comparisons with familiar classics. The story unfolds as a complex web of interconnected characters who all intersect at one point. It begins with a single evening culminating in a puzzling disaster, then jumps back days to reveal the backgrounds and motivations of each person involved. Various families grapple with their own problems, but these ultimately converge on that fateful night, leading to a satisfying resolution and an unexpected turn. As the film approaches its conclusion, anticipation builds. The tendency to anticipate the ending often leads us astray, and here, it happens again as the final moments genuinely catch us off guard. It’s not a brilliant achievement, but when viewed in relation to the rest of the movie, the finale is effective. This independent drama features some depictions of sexuality and drug use, making it suitable for adult audiences and older teens, although the occasionally slower tempo might test some viewers' patience. The acting was superb; with so many performers involved, everyone’s screen time was limited, but they all delivered strong performances. Kristen Stewart is a slight letdown if you anticipate more from her character. The film suffers from a lack of major stars, which has contributed to its obscurity. It possesses a solid story, but the absence of well-known actors has kept it from gaining wider recognition; it needs more viewers to succeed. Aside from that, the movie isn’t bad as it's been labeled and I would certainly suggest watching it. 7/10
