There are individuals who appear confident but possess kindness within. It proved to be an agreeable romantic comedy, featuring a capable ensemble. However, the story centers on a relationship between older characters, and those familiar with this director’s previous works will likely find something to appreciate here. The narrative is straightforward, although certain elements feel somewhat contrived due to the rapid progression of events. Following his wife's passing, an elderly man working in real estate attempts to sell her house. He now resides in a small apartment plagued by bothersome neighbors, but circumstances lead his drug-dependent son to bring his daughter to live with him before he begins a prison sentence. Reluctantly agreeing, the film then explores their developing connection alongside his budding romance with a woman who lives nearby. Despite receiving low ratings, I found it enjoyable. I’m aware that this isn't an exceptional movie, but I did find parts of it heartwarming and occasionally humorous. Michael Douglas delivered a strong performance, as did Diane Keaton, complemented by the supporting cast. The film was already well-balanced; any alterations would likely detract from its charm. It is what it is, and viewers should simply relax and enjoy themselves while acknowledging its limitations. Families might especially appreciate this one. Given the subject matter and storytelling style, that seems appropriate. I’d recommend it for them, though it does contain some sexual references, which I wanted to mention if you're considering watching it with your children. 6.5/10
