I'm wondering why I put off watching this for so long, and also, shouldn't Jon Voight have received another Academy Award for his work here? “Anaconda” centers around a team of documentary filmmakers—remarkably clever and surprisingly aware—who are looking for a secluded tribe deep within the Amazon. During their search, they encounter an unusual snake hunter portrayed by Jon Voight, who attempts to assist them but inadvertently leads them into a restricted part of the jungle inhabited by enormous snakes that appear incredibly lifelike and move with completely plausible speed. Seriously, you won’t believe how convincing the computer-generated imagery is; it's easy to think those snakes are actually present alongside the actors. The characters aren’t annoying in any way. There isn’t a moment when you find yourself hoping the snakes triumph and that all of the human characters meet unfortunate ends. You feel truly saddened by character deaths, and there’s no desire to react with laughter or celebration. You really should check out this movie. It's definitely comparable to films like “The Room” or Kirk Cameron’s "Saving Christmas."
