The story contrasts the innocence of a young child with the complexities of the adult world. This is a thriller from a first-time writer and director. It’s clear she didn't have the backing of a major studio, but within its limited scope, she has created a commendable film. There were some shortcomings, particularly in the script. Overall, however, it is quite intriguing. The music, locations, and performances all enhanced the narrative effectively. Because of the unfamiliar cast and crew, this could easily be overlooked, but it's certainly a worthwhile movie. It centers around a farming family. Set in rural America where farmers are struggling with debt and facing ruin, an eleven-year-old girl remains oblivious to the hardships surrounding her. Her closest companion is a chicken named Happy, who they explore the countryside together. One day she discovers a man trapped inside her silo and they develop a friendship while helping each other. The girl doesn't realize there’s a hidden complication behind their meeting, and when it’s revealed, everything changes dramatically, bringing the story to an unexpected conclusion. The plot was good, though it evoked echoes of 'Pan's Labyrinth'. While primarily a thriller, certain scenes suggest an influence from fable, as the title implies. It also carried a philosophical element. The film takes place in the 1980s and, viewed through the eyes of an adult, it’s a suspenseful examination of farmers’ struggles. However, because the story is told from a child's perspective, a sense of magic emerges. This combination of elements makes the film unique. > -xX] Important people don't have to say they're important. [Xx- Regarding the film's weaknesses, the narrative flow felt somewhat disjointed; certain scenes weren’t as polished as they could be. The ideas were strong, but some minor details didn't quite mesh seamlessly. For instance, the girl might have been able to open the door or window to provide assistance instead of climbing up. However, most of the film was well-executed and enjoyable. These are simply the mistakes a novice filmmaker makes, and I’m hopeful her next project will be exceptional. The young actress was very impressive, reminiscent of many current stars who delivered remarkable performances in their childhood roles. I wish her future success. She dominates the movie; the other actors had less to do, but they all performed well. It's not difficult to anticipate what’s going to happen, but a nagging question arises: is it real or imagined? Finding a man trapped in a silo isn’t an everyday occurrence, and there has to be an explanation. You’ll have to wait until the third act to find out because that might ultimately prove to be the film's biggest surprise. As I mentioned, it wasn't a flawless thriller, nor was it one that should be dismissed! Many scenes appear deliberate, introduced early on as introductions and then revisited later with consequences. The way these elements were used to complete the storytelling was well-planned. Don’t take what film critics say at face value—or even my opinion, if you aren't a serious movie enthusiast. But I can confidently say it isn't a bad film despite what you might read online. Those who are willing to take a chance on smaller films should give this one a try. In general, though, I recommend it to everyone! _7/10_
