It feels like this movie takes a connection that isn't particularly engaging for those involved, nor for the audience, and tries to stir things up. The everyday routine seems to be draining the excitement from “Adam” (Scott Evans) and his boyfriend “Marklin” (Augustus Prew). This situation is made worse by “Cammy” (Michelle Buteau), who’s brimming with happiness, and their friends experiencing their own versions of a mid-life slump. The question arises: will these events help them realize the value of what they have, or simply highlight that life is finite and it's okay to move forward? It's refreshing to see characters who don’t fit the typical picture of perfection – there's a sense of realism in how they are portrayed. However, any potential for something new or different disappears quickly. The acting and writing resemble what you might find on a daytime soap opera, and the stereotypes feel like they were pulled from a list compiled decades ago by Quentin Crisp. Will things work out? Unfortunately, I didn’t really connect with the characters' journey.
