A family Christmas gathering is rarely without its complications! This movie caught me off guard; it’s likely the strongest Christmas-themed comedy I've seen this year, even though I watched it quite late in the season. The story revolves around a family reunion for Christmas. Following their mother’s recent death, the children gather with their father to ensure he doesn’t spend the holiday alone. However, they aren’t a picture-perfect family; having not been together for some time, each brings along their personal problems and lives. This leads to disagreements, arguments, and general chaos. I've encountered similar movies before, and this one follows that familiar formula, but it was still somewhat enjoyable. These kinds of films often succeed or fail based on the quality of the writing and humor. When those elements are well-done, they tend to satisfy audiences and perform better commercially. The cast is adequate, although Danny Glover’s appearance stood out as a particular strength. The characters felt well-developed, and the acting was generally solid. There were definitely moments that had me laughing out loud. It runs a bit long, but the story kept my attention. Ultimately, it's an average movie, though the comedic elements were its strongest point. _5/10_
