The initial moments were captivating; watching snowflakes settle over a quiet town’s buildings was lovely. We are introduced to "Alma," who seems happy as she runs around before pausing at a storefront, where a doll strikingly similar to her is displayed. There aren't many dolls visible inside, but the entrance appears to be secured. Or does it seem that way? After she enters, a sense of unease begins to creep in, suggesting something bad might occur. It becomes a question of who these numerous dolls actually are. The animation’s production values are noteworthy, and the characters—not only "Alma" but also the boy riding the wind-up bicycle—are portrayed with an unsettling effectiveness. This subverts the usual idea of toys being fun and harmless by presenting them in a different light.
